When I wrote my review of the HP TX1000 Series Laptop in June, I never expected it would generate the amount of comments that it did. While reading the earliest comments, it became apparent that a good number of TX1000 owners are, like myself, unhappy with the performance of Windows Vista with this piece of hardware. Before long a stream of suggestions flowed in, with links where to get the proper drivers for this laptop if one were to revert to the more stable Windows XP.

I repost here these links/resources that several commenters have generously shared for all to benefit.

  • Detailed step-by-step, screen-captured Windows XP installation tutorial from DarkGiank.info. Website is in Spanish, click HERE for the Google translation. Credit goes to commenter RV.
  • BIOS and Webcam drivers from the HP site, as provided by HP chat support. Credit to commenter Phil.
  • The Ultimate dual booting guide with screenshots. Credit to commenter Crazyness.
  • Commenter RV successfully downgraded his laptop to XP using this guide from the HP Forums.
  • Gracious thanks also go to the rest of the commenters whose brainstorming ideas contributed to this resource page.
